This ant is often confused with other small brown ants because they walk around in tight columns and forage in kitchens. Some people mistakenly call them « sugar ants ».

The pharaoh ant is not a native variety and it is not cold resistant. That’s why it colonizes heated human dwellings and wants to stay there.

The colony starts with a few individuals and a queen, then when it is big enough, it divides and goes to find a new territory. It lives in the structure of buildings and spreads to all floors.

Eliminating these ants is possible, but beware, the property of this ant is that if you assault the colony with an insecticide or other cleaning agent, it will start producing new queens and it will spread small colonies all over the place to ensure its survival.

After just one spray of insecticide, the single colony may have grown into three or six colonies. And this multiplication will continue as long as the colonies feel « endangered. »

Obviously, the more colonies there are to eliminate the more difficult it is to destroy them all. It is often a large job.

If you identify them, contact us immediately to get rid of them. With special techniques and special baits we can get rid of them.
