WHAT TO DO WHEN A ROOM IS INFESTED:
First of all, don’t try to treat yourself… It won’t work with commercially available insecticides. Also, if you just treat the infested room, the insecticide used to treat them will push a portion of the bugs to the neighboring rooms and the process will have to be repeated a few weeks later. All the rooms will become contaminated one after the other and it will be very difficult to get rid of them since your entire establishment will become contaminated.
If you find bedbugs, you must first quarantine the infested rooms and then contact a company that specializes in bedbug treatment to come in and treat it.
Neighboring rooms will also need to be treated preemptively so that the infestation does not spread. (Less expensive but essential treatment)
For a treatment to be effective, the insecticide must be potent and have a long residual time to ensure that it eliminates the generations of bedbugs that will emerge from the few egg hatchings that will follow.
